African Development Bank’s project implemented by Sudan Ministry of Agriculture and Forests

The grant US$ 47.5 Million is used to support the small farmer in in west and North Kordofan states Sudan under the supervision of African Development Bank (AfDB) in development for market access and trade facilitation addressing development of key market-access infrastructure which involves: (i) Construction of modern Borsa building. (ii) Construction of 13 warehousing facilities (Commodity exchange delivery centers). at North Kordofan and West Kordofan States. (iii) Construction of market access and trade facilitation roads to weather gravel standards for a total of 266 km at North and West Kordofan States. (iv) Construction of 10,000 tons cold storage spaces in western Khartoum State to preserve of certified potato seeds locally produced. My achievements: (i) have learned how to play a far more hands-on role to make sure the group works well together and remains focused on the right priorities. (ii) I Had established good relationship with my team and got to know them individually then I’d assessed their strengths and delegated functions that suited each of them which had significant impact on their productivity (iii) Initiated and technically manage works across various locations at three states timely.

SSNRMP is financed by a GEF grant of US$7.73 million and by the Government of Sudan (GoS) in-kind contribution equivalent to US$2.0 million. The project has adopted improved soil and water management practices, to support forest ecosystem rehabilitation, rangeland management and sustainable alternative livelihood activities, and to strengthen the capacity to implement Sustainable Land and Water Management (SLWM) and biodiversity conservation. My achievements: (i) I have used my skills in helping government staff and build their capacity by on-job training. (ii) I've practiced construction of water harvesting facilities, nurseries, and forestry camps. (iii) I became familiar with Environmental and Social Safeguards after the intensive training that we attended we kept considering safeguard issues in design and construction works.
Senior Civil Engineer
Global Partnership for Education (GPE)’s grant Basic Education Recovery Project (BERP)under supervision of World bank and Unicef

The grant was to support primary education schools through BERP " under World Bank supervision and Unicef as implementing partner. About third of the Global Partnership for Education Fund (GPEF) grant of US$ 76.5 Million to support the basic education in Sudan is utilized improve the education environment by construction of new classrooms construction under the supervision of The World Bank. The targeted number was 1112 classrooms distributed among the most vulnerable and isolated communities at 11 states. My achievements: Gained experience from working with World Bank teams specifically (i) Acquired relevant work experience in international organizations and international procurement systems. (ii) Capacity building and training of government staff which resulted in they tackled direct construction supervision till works got completed and the pupils get good learning environments. (iii) Practiced construction by community participation methodology in the construction of more than 1600 classrooms at 11 Sudan states. (iv) Through community empowerment construction modality that had piloted by the project we managed to train community leaders, namely P”arents and Teachers Associations (PTA)s” on contract management and construction supervision in this regard I gained good knowledge of community and project stakeholder consultations and mobilization in the context of rural infrastructure works.

Un Habitat was helping to improve the capacity of the government in planning and managing urban settlements for a better provision of services, integration of displaced people by introducing ecologically friendly and low-cost building material e.g. producing alternative construction solutions to fired bricks for construction namely stabilized soil blocks (SSB). My achievements: (i) Introducing environmentally-friendly building materials, namely SSB there, together with construction technologies that were more affordable to urban poor inhabitants instead of high costing rigorous building material. (ii) Mitigating climate change when utilizing these techniques i.e. helped to avoid carbon emissions during the production of the alternative construction material "fire bricks" as well as by saving thousands of trees and saving the environment from degradation.

The project was responding to the alarming levels of land degradation at Sinnar State, Sudan as this factor poses the biggest threat to small holders’ livelihoods and social peace. My achievements: Introducing environment friendly and productivity enhancing technical packages and mobilizing concerted efforts to formulate a regulatory framework for the development of both smallholder and large-scale farming in a way that conserves the environment.
